A letter from the CEO


Hi there,

I’m Kent, the founder of EasyHomeFood.

My journey in the U.S. began at the age of 14 when I arrived in Alpena, Arkansas, as part of a cultural exchange program. The town had only 200 people, limited transportation, and school cafeteria meals that barely satisfied my appetite. For months, I battled hunger and loneliness as I adapted to life in a new country.

Then, one fateful afternoon, everything changed. After a basketball game, I stumbled upon a small Chinese restaurant and ordered a simple plate of fried rice. The glossy soy sauce, bright red carrots, and golden corn kernels immediately transported me back home. I could almost hear the dialect of my hometown and see the lush landscapes of Dongting Lake. That meal washed away my homesickness and gave me the strength to keep going.

After finishing high school in Alpena, I’ve had the opportunity to live in many places, including California, Michigan, Chicago, London, and, eventually, Hong Kong. No matter where life takes me, finding best Chinese flavors has always been my top priority.

While in Hong Kong, I spent much of my free time exploring Chinese cuisine with my colleague Tyson, who had lived in Canada for many years. One evening, as we enjoyed a Hunan-style meal, Tyson turned to me and said, "I really wish we could have found flavors like this before”

That comment planted the seed for General Tso’s Home. We chose the name because most of our team hails from Hunan, the birthplace of General Tso. Our team spent the past year consulting with 28 master chefs from various Chinese culinary traditions, researching the differences between Chinese and American ingredients, and traveling to 19 regions in China to source the finest produce.

We then dedicated over 1,000 hours to refining and testing recipes, ultimately developing our authentic Chinese cooking kits and the EHC (Easy Home Cooking) method, specifically designed for local U.S. ingredients.

Our mission is simple: to help people across the U.S. recreate authentic Chinese meals with ease, bringing the flavors we all cherish into your homes.
